Feriehuse i Guatemala

"Lovely, comfortable, big appartment and view over Texel Airfield / Skydive Drop-Zone. We chose it as our son skydives and we had family doing tandems. Its a good base for the whole island and an interesting place to be but if you want to walk to restaurants in the evening better to be in De Koog or Den Burg. For our purpose it was great. Our skydiver even managed to get a early jump in before the Texel Half Marathon he was running! The price is right for the quality of appartment but Texel is generally dear."

There was a window open in the bathroom which we had not spotted and the appartment was full of mosquitos which was odd given we are end of September. The freezer door was jammed with ice.

Besonders gut gefallen hat uns, dass wir zwei Bäder hatten und der schöne Garten, in dem man gemütlich frühstücken konnte. Die Wohnung war sehr sauber und wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen. Es gab auch die Möglichkeit dass für uns traditionelles Essen gekocht wird, was sehr lecker war, und unsere Wäsche gewaschen wird. Wir bedanken uns sehr herzlich und freuen uns, nochmal wieder zu kommen :)"

"Det er fuldstændig unikt og helt fantastisk at bo i et træ. Vi så så mange dyr og huset er meget smukt lavet."

Et mindre gryde til at koge pasta samten ny elkoger og brødrister havde været perfekt, men det var okay og så skal man vide, at når man bor i et åbent træhus på et træ, så er der kryb. Vi var cool med det, men vores børn lidt mindre.

We thought the sauna was included in the price but it was not.

"The house is comfortable in a quiet location. Unfortunately, our stay was cut short due to a medical issue that needed regular treatment in town—no fault of the host or house."

A car is needed as there are few facilities close by.

"Beautiful property atop a hill, with nice views of the surroundings (including a view of the Queen's Palace). Very clean. Elegant decor. Comfortable beds. Access to private swimming pool (competition-length, which is great for serious swimmers), a pool-house equipped with grill, bar, tables, and games (ping pong and foosball), and a private playground for younger children. We ordered 1 meal that was excellent, served in-house by the hosts. The hosts live in a separate unit on the property and they were available whenever we had questions. One of the hosts used to be a competitive swimmer and she gave the children a swim lesson. A relaxing place if you want to get away from the bustle of downtown Tana."

Somewhat difficult to find if you're driving yourself, but that's no fault of the hosts and the isolation does make the property more peaceful. Besides, property access won't be a problem if you ask the hosts to organize transportation for you (either car or motorcycle). There was a water shortage due to a drought at the time of rental, but again that's no fault of the hosts. We just had to be careful about our water consumption and it all worked out just fine. Treat the hosts with respect and they will definitely return the favor (they surprised us with freshly baked bread on our last day!)

"Second time we stayed here – last time was Feb 24. Still had everything we needed - fitted kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, living area. Had good A/C & Wifi. 50m walk to the beach. Nice pool. Good restaurants (Saltwater Grill, Peppers, Loco Cayman, The Wharf, MIzu), Shops (Fosters Supermarket, Dive Shop, Subway, Starbucks, Andys Car Hire) nearby & buses stop for Georgetown just outside (U$2.50). Management were helpful."

There was a northwesterly wind the whole time we were there. Beach wasn’t littered with debris this time but made swimming and snorkelling cloudy. If you travel down to Spotts Bay on the south side of the island, you are shielded by the island and snorkelling was much easier. Might be an idea to look at the weather to choose when you go.

"The langdale was a peaceful haven in the rolling hills of a tea plantation. The room was beautifully presented and comfortable. The dining and breakfast areas looked out over lovely views. Breakfast was delicious and the staff always helpful. The pool was a treat too. ."

Not the best area in Paternoster, although to be fair within walking distance of everything, the exterior gates were hard work, they need to be fixed / maintained properly, chunky thick wine glasses not really what you want to drink quality wine out of

On s'y sent vraiment bien et comme chez nous. L'hôte de la maison est vraiment sympathique et prodigue de bons conseils. Superbe séjour."

Nous n'avons vraiment rien à redire sur la maison tant tout y est superbement agencé et ou tout est à notre disposition pour que le séjour se passe superbement bien. Nous n'avons vu aucun points négatifs à cette location.

"Everything. The owner and property manager worked with us the best I have ever had. They accommodated our request for more chairs/towels/life vests. They had kayaks, stand up paddle boards and beach cruisers available for us to use. It truely had it all in this remote area! The house had it all within too!"

Crazy amount of mosquitoes but outside the control of the rental.

"The location is handy to town if you do not have a car it is a quick 5 minute walk to the main centre. It had all the necessities for our stay. We loved the deck and how quiet it was. The rooms were comfortable and having mesh windows reduced the mozzie bites. The images of the property are exactly what we you get when you hire this beautiful place."

Would have been great to have air con in the back room but the heat was manageable.

"My room had everything one could desire for self-reliance. Nice folks who bent over backwards to accommodate my every wish. I couldn't have been more pleased. From the outside, the place looked simple, but the room itself was actually nicer and better equipped than the Sheraton in Brussels or the King Fajd Palace in Dakar which I had stayed in en route."

The street was a block in from the main road which was quiet and nice in the daytime but too dark to walk at night alone as a single lady.

"It was so well equipped for our family. The small pool was great for my 3 year old. We had our own private entrance, patio and outdoor sitting area. It felt safe and provided a restful place for us to call home for 5 days. Many beaches nearby, one within walking distance."

There are tons of mosquitos and tiny ants. This was observed elsewhere on the island that we stayed too and is not particular of this property. Be prepared with your own insect repellent.

"The hosts are incredible. SO SO generous and attentive. Great sense of humour. Incredible homemade food and drink. One is welcomed into family."

The accommodation is quite remote and arriving at night (my own "fault"), the drive up into hills from nearest "main" road is a long way through forest. A bit tricky, but worth the trip! Important to have good guidance in advance!

"Location in quiet area but still very close to the city center with many shops 24/7 nearby. Nice & comfy bedroom with AC and refrigerator- especially important in August :-). Additional benefit was the balcony, but the view was not spectacular. Breakfasts were very tasty and the view from dining room was very nice (8th floor)."

Just minor disadvantages: no power sockets available for charging in the bedroom, cash payment only. No hooks in the bathroom and towels I think shall be replaced after each 2-3 days.

"The location was excellent, its best suited for families and those who want to spend time in solitude a little away from hustle and bustle of main road. House is well equipped with ameneties. Be prepared with your own stuff and its like living in your own home."

Nothing But a word of caution the road to house comes down from main Abbottabad road for 6 minutes through some steep slopes, tight turns and a beautiful forest. In the Morning its amazing, at night chance of getting panicked. Dont panick! Just make sure your car has good engine, tyres and breaks.
