"I loved staying at an authentic Lucian home in an area outside of Laborie. The couple is super friendly and they are both very willing to help in any way they can with tips and advice. The breakfast was incredible, even taking into consideration some diet restrictions (due to a cleanse I was doing). All in all I would recommend this place for anyone who is curious about a true St. Lucia experience. Get a rental car if you do, to you can get there more easily."

Almost nothing. Maybe the only thing I would change is being able to keep the door open for some fresh air. I couldn't because the new cat, Frisky, was not allowed inside. This made it a little hot inside at times.

"Very friendly and welcoming staff, everyone was so warm and kind. We extended our stay here as I was unwell and we asked for a lighter/quieter room. We were promptly moved to a lovely, large light room. Big clean bathroom and a really comfy cosy bed. The roof top here is brilliant, amazing views and super tasty food. The breakfast each morning was good, and different every day - always served with a smile. We extended our stay in the end for a week, and booked our trek with Basu at the hotel - which was organised perfectly. Overall really good value for money here, great location before a trek."

"The location is wonderful! The beautiful house where we rented a unit is right on the lake. The house is well-kept and beautiful. The weather was cold and a little foggy, which added to the atmosphere. In the summer, the residents walk 20 meters and are already in the lake, which invites swimming. The unit we got itself was quite small but sufficient. The breakfast was good. We stayed one night, but we would definitely go back there for a longer stay."

The owner was so welcoming and shared the amazing story of how it was his great-great-grandfather who built it, such a cool piece of history. Along with another young man who did likewise, plus he did an excellent job of guiding us on a hike through Palm Gardens and Gorge Du Todra. When we were making our booking we enquired about access as we were planning a long trip with heavy luggage. We were told in advance that there is a steep path and stairs from the road but that we would have our luggage transfered for us by staff and Jack the donkey. On arrival and departure that was done by the staff and lovely healthy looking well cared for Jack. So our stay was overall very good."

The only things were the mounting bracket for the shower head in the bathroom faces the head straight out. No big problem for us as we just held it by hand. But some people may not be comfortable doing that and a new mounting bracket would be a good idea. The second thing was a leak from the pipe suppling the bathroom sink. Which meant that the bathroom floor away from the shower was wet and could be slippery. There was a floor blade left in the bathroom to use but the leak would not be a major job to fix so would be worth doing.

The dinner they cooked for us was absolutely delicious, we loved the Peulh cheese! And all this at a very good price - great value for money. Very funny for us Belgians to be welcomed in Dutch :-)"

The surroundings of the house are not really beautiful, but we stayed here as an overnight stop between Cotonou and the Tanéka villages.
