"We visited Golden Shell Residence in April 2025. It's located in the beautiful peaceful village of Trou d'Eau Douce on the east coast of Mauritius. Small shops, bus stop, cash machine, all is nearby. The small public beach is in walking distance (10 minutes). Nice larger beach is in Palmar (4 km). The accommodation is clean and has a hair dryer, fridge, rooftop terrace, TV... The price is the best you can find on Mauritius. The owner is very helpful and offers you trips to nearby islands Ile aux Cerfs but also tours all around Mauritius and other activities for reasonable price. We forgot something in our room and he was so kind to send it all the way to Europe. Thank you again! If you want to visit the east coast, I would recommend to stay in Golden Shell Residence in Trou d'Eau Douce. Best price, friendly staff, nice village."

"Of course please don't expect 5* hotel but there was nothing to complain about. The only thing that could be a bit unpleasant is the temperature. It's very hot in the room even with the fan turned to fastest. But with windows and doors opened it's quite good. The neighbourhood is very safe so you don't have to be worried there."

"Parking in and out was quite a challenge as the gate opens directly to the well frequented street. We were staying in the third floor and carrying the luggage upstairs without elevator was a bit annoying."
