"Waterland er et sjovt sted og herligt, at spendere et par dage der. Vi boede i Elephant Villa, som havde en ‘fiske-fod-spa’ på badeværelset, en skøn seng og en ret stor plungepool med udsigt over floden. Der er udendørs møbler, så man kan sidde og nyde floden med al trafikken, fuglelivet og de mange, store flagermus, som flyver over floden om aftenen. Vi deltog i en ‘bådsafari’, hvilket var en skøn oplevelse. Morgenmaden på stedet var god og rigelig! Vi valgte omelet hver morgen og bad om, at få den spicy, og det fik vi! Alle de ansatte er søde og venlige."

"Man skal vænne sig til den højlydte sang/messen fra en nærliggende kirke morgen (kl 05:30) og aften. Vi kunne godt have brugt en parasol på terrassen, der blev simpelthen for varmt, at sidde. Vi spiste middagsmad i restauranten to aftener og det smagte ikke af ret meget, desværre."

"Not only the fact you had to place your order for food ahead of time but that you had to specify when exactly you wanted breakfast . Sometimes hard to know the night before ."

"Food is excellent, staff cheerful, great room and bathroom in the Elephant Villa. Snake in the bathroom was dealt with efficiently, though it took 6 staff but all cheerfully and snake let outside to live, so all ended well."

"Staff need to be taught that certainly when the company make a lot of and try to up sell romantic this and romantic that, please teach staff that both partners want the main meal brought out at the same time, not so romantic when one’s almost finished before the other is even served. I did make sure this was rectified on our second night. Cocktails not so good, some warm with no ice, sometimes 45 minutes to arrive. Taxi to airport sorted by the hotel is £37.50 for the 20 minute trip, you don’t have to use their recommendation, it’s convenient but more than twice the normal price I think."

"The location is so stunning with water on all sides. We loved watching the fruit bats and all the different birds. The kids loved the pool and it was fun that there were toys like water pistols and bubble wands for the children. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Thank you."

"What an oasis! Waterland is a great spot for those who don't mind being a little bit outside the main hustle and bustle of Negombo. It's not close, but for those who are not afraid of a brisk 20-minute walk, then you've found the best spot to stay. The rooms are spacious and very well appointed. The personal pools are such a treat. Overall, a gem for those looking for something more on the boutique side of things."

"The menu is somewhat limited, although the food at the restaurant is excellent. The location is a bit out of the way with very little to do in the immediate vicinity. But these are small prices to pay for the wonderful experience the staff provide."
