"Fantastisk sted med den dejligste saltvandspool og en fremragende udsigt. Super venlige mennesker som tog imod os og lavede mad til os da vi ankom sent. Besøg dette sted hvis i er i nærheden, det er helt igennem fantastisk."

"The location was superb for peace and quiet. It is high in the mountains, so be prepared for twisty hilly roads. Beautiful scenery and interesting medieval town to discover. Not far to Menton via road. Great delicious breakfast, hot shower, salt water pool. Friendly family home/hosts. Some parking on a hill or you can park for free near the local supermarket. Lovely supermarket, which is small but sells all you need (including delicious fresh cheeses, bread, and wine)."

"Would have preferred a larger bed as it was only a double. I don't think it put us off as we'd love to return. The decking to the room was in need of replacing."

"What a find by chance well worth the sort drive up the mountain road to La Vela and the host Joel and his wife, He greeted us on arrival and showed around his beautiful cabin and swimming pool, the interior of our room was very clean and furnished to a high spec with a massive bed and walk in shower, we had breakfast included in the price which you could have at anytime you desired, food and coffee was of good quality, this is one of my favourite stays, would definitely recommend and stay again."

"We loved the silence and tranquility of the place. We enjoyed the pool and the beautiful views. Ideal place to unwind. We wanted to get away from the crowds in Nice and we certainly managed to do that in Peille and at La Vela. We took a taxi from Nice but on our way back we had to take a bus. Peille isn’t serviced by taxis and the railway station is far. Either drive or else bus it to Peille and back."

"The room was very hot. We had a fan but it wasn’t adequate. We spent two nights at La Vela. The room wasn’t serviced I am mentioning it here not because we didn’t like this but it was a bit odd."

"Amazing location with a view! The place feels very safe as well. Host is very nice and friendly, breakfast feels like at home in a good way. Very happy about staying here!"

"You can hear everything happening upstairs/nextdoor, so might be an issue if you're a light sleeper."

"La Vela is situated in a beautiful location with gorgeous views. It is a 10-minute walk from the medieval village of Peille where there is a sense of time standing still. Joel was a lovely and helpful host, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was varied and much of it was home-made which was a great touch."

"I would advise anybody visiting the area to have the use of a car. It is remote and not served by taxis, at least in my experience. There is a reliable and inexpensive public bus service which can take you to Monaco on weekdays and to Nice at weekends though - we didn't have access to a car and I feel we could have seen more of the lovely countryside had we had the foresight to hire a car."
