Cordillera Hostel

"This is a great cosy ski hostel on the mountain with a very social atmosphere and helpful staff. There is ski-in ski-out access to a t-bar, which runs in the mornings and takes you to El Colorado. For Valle Nevado and La Parva, you will need a car, but you can often get rides with other guests, or you can hitchhike, and it won't take long for someone to pick you up. From all three mountains, it is possible to ski all the way home without buying an additional lift ticket if you know the right way."

"The property is very nice. We had a private room with private bathroom. The bedroom and bathroom a seperate which was fine. The views inside and outside (on the balcony) are excellent. Common area and bedroom were very warm and comfortable. The manager is very helpful."

"Ski in / ski out is a bit of a lie with this property. We were there within 2 weeks of a 1.5m dump of snow and it was still not even close to ski in / ski out. Do not stay here expecting ski in / ski out. The manager very kindly helps with transport to the ski fields but if you are staying for a week like us it is very expensive to pay for transport to the ski fields everyday. There was no other transport to the ski fields available. Do not stay here without your own car. There is no grocery store within walking distance. There are 2 restaurants within walking distance, neither has good food and they are expensive. The closest grocery store is in El Colorado (15min drive). You really need to do your grocery shopping before you arrive. Again your own car helps here. We had hot water in our private bathroom shower. However, every other guest we spoke to could not take a shower as it was only freezing cold water. The shared bathroom and even another room that had a private bathroom did not have hot water. We let some other guests use our private bathroom for this reason. You could not stay here for a long period in any other room than the one we had for this reason. The hot water should really be fixed here. People need to shower after skiing and it is not possible in freezing cold water. The wifi did not work for our entire stay (7 days). I do not believe there was an attempt to fix it. I believe that the way the property is advertised needs to be changed to reflect the reality of staying here. We were pretty lost initially with no food or way to access the ski fields and no information or wifi to find information when we arrived. However, we did figure it all out and really enjoyed our stay, despite the issues, in the end."

"It is community location where people of all interests can enjoy the beautiful scenery and activities. The staff are helpful and make you feel like you are one of the family."

"If there is little snow in the region it is not ski in and out so that is a little misleading. You are not in a resort."

"The owners are so lovely and very very helpful. Due to us not speaking Spanish they did everything they could to assist us and we communicated through translate apps. They offer transport to and from the mountain when they snow doesn’t reach the ‘ski out’ portion of the stay which is wonderful! The view is incredible, the hostel is cozy and warm, the others staying are friendly, the vibes are great! :)"

"Despite a city wide power outage while I was staying there I am still giving it a 10/10. The staff are amazing and made up for the situation which their friendliness and communication. Not to mention getting the backup generator up and running! Met some great people and had a great time. Some things to note: - do bring groceries with you. A driver brings some fresh fruit and veg sometimes but it’s very limited - if you’re planning on skiing El Colorado it’s essentially ski in ski out but for La Parva and Valle Nevada you really do need a car. They don’t link up very well by snow since some of the linking lifts can be closed and there isn’t much transportation between them - a decent level of Spanish is helpful"

"The staff were so helpful with sorting ski kit rental out for us and gave us lots of information about getting the shuttle bus to El Colorado. Comfy beds and hot water in showers. Cheap for the area"

"La ubicación, cerca de los 3 centros de ski. Además habia un andarivel que lamentablemente estaba cerrado por falta de nieve, pero sino se podria llegar al colorado por ese medio. La habitación cumplía con lo esperado, excelente relación precio/calidad. Caro y Pablo estuvieron siempre muy atentos y me dieron muy buenas recomendaciones. Sin dudas volvería."
